Welcome Fellow Ostomates

sheri-rodwell

Hi, Sheri Rodwell here, I live in Calgary Canada. When I was 12, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Like most of you I resisted the idea of surgery, but by the time I was 23 there was no choice left in the matter, I had to get a bag. Even though my new bag was a very welcome alternative to years of stabbing abdominal pains, embarrassing restroom emergencies, I too had to deal with all of the emotional aspects of being a 23 year old single woman who had a drain in her stomach.

At a time before there was internet, I was pretty much left on my own once home from the hospital. Ostomy Support groups were around, they were informative yet because of my age I did not go and still felt quite alone. Now we have the internet we are no longer alone on this journey of self discovery. Being a member of the Calgary United Ostomy Ass has helped me find great friends locally, how ever on line is always a place where we can meet more, and create a safe place to all come together to learn and share out stories.

My goal with this web site is to have a place where people could come, shop for supplies, learn about new products, find links to other great stuff and be connected in what is going on around the Ostomy world.

Remember, this site if for you, please feel free to contact us with any suggestions you may have.
